This free SWANA Webinar will explain how public and private sector employers can use the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) On-Site Consultation Program to improve workplace safety health.
Attendees will first learn about the private sector On-Site Consultation Program from OSHA's Safety and Occupational Health Specialist, Opeyemi Farquah. Attendees will learn how they can use the private sector On-Site Consultation program to identify potential hazards at their worksites and how to fix them, establish and improve their occupational safety and health management systems, train and educate workers and receive advice on how to comply with OSHA standards at no cost. Employers will also learn how to attain the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) status and qualify for a deferral from OSHA programmed inspections for the duration of their participation in SHARP.
Then, there will be a presentation by Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration's Industrial Hygienist, Anthony Smykla, on the services provided to employers through their state and local government On-Site Consultation Program. On-Site Consultation services are available to state and local government employers through the 28 OSHA-approved State Plans. Smykla will also share safety information on how to prevent struck-by incidents in collection and post-collection operations, a leading cause of injury and death in the solid waste industry.
