Gregor G. Meyer, Director of Public Works, City of Woodland, CA
In this SWANA Webinar you learn simple, but effective techniques to help you determine which of the three basic employee behaviors you are experiencing and what to do about it. This technique is called the Three I's (i.e., Incompetence, Inefficient, and Insubordinate). The Three-I's are easy to use and helpful in differentiating training issues or coaching opportunities from potential disciplinary priorities.
The method outlined in this training has been used for years and has helped many supervisors/managers focus on the type of problem they're dealing with. It starts with a question: Is the employee not trained or incapable of doing the task; have they been trained, but just never seem to get the job done; or are they consciously deciding not to follow through on an assignment?
